Coquelin and Giroud to sign on dotted line?
Francis Coquelin and Olivier Giroud are ready to commit their long term future to Arsenal by signing new deals in the coming days.
The Frenchman continue to be an important part of Arsene Wenger’s plans and the Arsenal boss has been keen to get the deals completed.
Coquelin took his chance to shine for Arsenal when brought back from a loan move to Charlton two years ago to become a stable of Wenger’s XI.
The Mail reports that the 25-year-old is expected to sign a new deal until 2021 and will double his £40k-a-week salary.
Giroud, meanwhile, whose contract was due to run out at the end of next season, will extend his stay by a further 12 months.
The two deals will be a welcome boost as negotiations for Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil continue.
Morning all. It’s your daily dose of Arsenal transfer news and rumours. Yesterday wasn’t exactly a bumper day of speculation but here’s a recap nonetheless.
Spanish website Don Balon claim Real Madrid will look to sign Mesut Ozil from Arsenal if they sell Columbian forward James Rodriguez.
Meanwhile, talkSPORT say PSG will pip Arsenal to the £30m signature of Wolfsburg ace Julian Draxler who has long been linked with a switch to north London.
Another player being linked with a move to Arsenal is 16-year-old goalkeeper Jasper Schendelarr.
The AZ Alkmaar keeper has been in fine form this season and is wanted by Arsene Wenger to join next month.
