Junior recommits to Wests Tigers

Wests Tigers have resigned one of the club’s most promising juniors.

Jacob Liddle, seen as the long term solution for the number nine jersey, extended his contract to remain at the club until the end of the 2019 season.

It’s a big boost for the club following the departures of local juniors Mitchell Moses, James Tedesco and Aaron Woods.

Moses was recently granted a release to join the Parramatta Eels while Woods and Tedesco will depart at the end of this season, bound for Belmore and Bondi respectively.

Liddle, a former Australian school boy representative, has also represented the NSW under 20’s side in 2016.

In 2015 he was named Wests Tigers under 20’s Player’s Player.

The talented hooker made his debut last year and has featured regularly on the bench this season.

The cub said he was ecstatic to remain in Tiger Town.

“The club has given me the chance to develop my game both on and off the field,” he said.

“Wests Tigers are a great club and the future is bright here.

“We’ve got a lot of players coming in and a lot who have helped me develop as I’ve come through the grades.

“It’s a nice feeling to have the security. It takes the pressure off and allows me to focus on my game as a player and to continue to develop.”

Coach Ivan Cleary praised the youngster.

“Jacob is a talented kid who puts the team before himself,” he said.

“We look forward to Jacob being an influential player in the long-term future of Wests Tigers.”
