A puppy has died after teenagers set fireworks off in her face.
The young pitbull, who was attacked in the city of Tlaquepaque in Mexico, attempted to run away to safety but was then sadly run over by a car.
Vets tried desperately to save her, but she died as a result of major internal haemorrhaging.
Animal rescue organisation Croqueton GDL found the dog, wrapped her in a blanket and carried her to the vet surgery.
‘Unfortunately, the dog did not manage to fight off her injuries and went into shock resulting from a massive internal haemorrhage,’ an organisation spokesperson said.
‘For those who have just seen these images, this dog was a victim of abuse by a group of teenagers who shot a firework into her eye.
‘Terrified, she ran off in a blind panic and was run over.’
Photos of the pup quickly went viral, sparking outrage. However, it is not known if officials are investigating the case.
