SUMMER Showdowns are back — and this time at Alberton Oval, the Port Adelaide Football Club’s traditional home.

The Crows and Power will close the shortened pre-season with a summer derby at Alberton on Saturday, March 3. The last pre-season derby was in 2015.

Adelaide will stay in SA for its two JLT Series pre-season matches. These will start against Fremantle at Strathalbyn Oval on Sunday, February 25.

Port Adelaide will open the pre-season in Perth in a rematch of its elimination final nemesis West Coast at Leederville Oval on the same day.

The pre-season has been cut from three matches to two.

The AFL is to follow the JLT Series with an AFLX carnival with the 18 league teams split into three six-side groups playing the shortened football format on a rectangular pitch.
