Three people were killed and twelve others were wounded in a shootout after an altercation early Saturday morning local time to a party in Los Angeles, police said.

The shooting took place in southwestern Los Angeles, in a building which served as a makeshift restaurant where about 50 people attended the party, said the representative of the police department of Los Angeles (LAPD), Frank Preciado.

"It was very painful scene. When we arrived there were three dead people and people were running everywhere. There are more people with gunshot wounds, "added Preciado.

The restaurant’s owner, identified only as Dili, said it was a birthday party, when there was a shootout.

At least twelve people were seriously wounded. Their condition varies from critical to stable, he added another police officer Mike Lopez.

According to him, the suspects are two possible attackers. Lopez said that the man and woman left the party after a dispute, and later returned armed. “From what I understand, they are responsible for the shooting,” he added confirming that the scene was found a firearm.
