Wests Tigers chief executive officer Justin Pascoe will travel to Tamworth next week to meet with members of the Wests Entertainment Group in preparation for the NRL clash in the city next year.
While in Tamworth on Thursday, November 30, Pascoe will make an announcement in relation to the round seven NRL game to be played at Scully Park between the Tigers and the Newcastle Knights on Saturday, April 21.
It is unknown what specifically the announcement will be about.
It was announced in early October that the game would be played in Tamworth and at the time Pascoe said the club was excited to be playing a “home” game at Scully Park.
“Rugby league has a long history in Australia’s regional communities and we’re proud to be playing a role in continuing this by taking a game to Tamworth,” he said.
“We take our role in growing the game seriously and this initiative provides a great way to be able to allow fans to see an NRL premiership game played locally for the very first time.”
Wests Tigers said the move was designed to “support and grow the game outside of its traditional base”.
